Product Specifications

Description

Diamante, designed by Alessandro Lenarda, Michele Slaviero, and Raffaele Lazzari for Metalco, is based on a "build your own" seating kit concept. Multiple configurations can be created by using the Diamante concrete bench in white, grey or dark grey colours and as a linear or 45° curved module with 2 powder-coated steel frame options in a range of finishes. Together with a range of hardwood elements, Diamante creates versatile seating options for a wide variety of projects.

Care Instructions

Precast Concrete
Cleaning
Remove any loose surface deposits with a brush.

Regularly wash the coating using a solution of warm water and non-abrasive, pH neutral detergent solution (with low wax content).

Thoroughly rinse the surfaces after cleaning to remove all residues. You can use a sponge, a soft bristle brush or pressure water cleaners. For pressure cleaners ensure you use cold or warm water and average pressure. Rinse after with fresh water and leave to dry.

Do not use abrasive sponges, discs, or brushes.

Do not use corrosive detergents, descaling agents, or acidic components (bleach, ammonia, vinegar, abrasive pastes).

For cleaning marks or solidified substances from the surface use slightly abrasive sponges for non-stick ceramic pans, accurately and lightly treat the parts to be cleaned as above. Please check with Botton + Gardiner for advice relating to cleaning special circumstances (i.e. stains from paint, acid, etc.) as required.

Maintenance
For surfaces prone to additional wear like that used for street furniture, regular treatment is recommended (at least every 2 years) with products containing high wax content. Evenly apply the product with a soft cloth and polish with a circular motion.

Avoid the products from being placed on surfaces subject to infiltrations or stagnant water puddles.

Hardwood
Metalco selects exotic wood that best suits the product and/or the project according to availability. Species may include: Angelim Amargoso, Iroko, Movingui, and Ipe. Wood is always supplied sealed with a pigmented vegetable oil.

Cleaning
Remove any loose surface deposits with a soft bristled brush. Wipe down regularly with fresh water and a non-abrasive cloth.

Avoid exposure to high levels of direct heat sources and open flame, i.e. if a pot is too hot to hold it may damage your timber surface and keep away from open flame.

Maintenance
Lightly sand rough areas of timber, brush on one coat of Sikkens Cetol HLS or similar external grade oil in an appropriate colour. Complete the above initially within 3 months, then every 6 months or as required. Areas with high amounts of dust (like building sites) will require a higher frequency of maintenance.

Minor Abrasion or Scuff Repairs: Apply Mirotone Wax or similar as per manufacturer’s guidelines.

Powder-Coat
Cleaning
Carefully remove any loose surface deposits with a wet sponge. Use a soft brush (non-abrasive) and a dilute solution of a mild detergent, e.g. pH-neutral liquid hand dishwashing detergent in warm water (do not use solvents) to remove dust, salt and other deposits. Ensure you thoroughly rinse the surfaces with clean fresh water after cleaning to remove all residues.

Do not use turpentine, white spirits, thinners, or other aggressive solvents on powder-coating (these may be harmful to the extended life of the powder coated surface and should be avoided as the damage may not be visible immediately and may take up to 12 months to appear).

Do use isopropyl alcohol or Methylated spirits and rinse with warm soapy water.

Do not rub powder-coating excessively, especially metallic finishes.

Maintenance
Painted surfaces which become scratched can be restored, by using the colour touch-up sprays. 400ml cans of Metalco’s standard RAL are available upon request - contact Botton + Gardiner to arrange. The colour should be sprayed from a 10-20cm distance on the surface which has been previously cleaned from dust and dirt. Drying is achieved in about 15 minutes. For colours not included in our standard chart, touch-up liquid colour can be requested.

If, however, on steel products, damage is deep and breaks the zinc protective coating below the paint, it will be necessary to proceed with an application of a zinc spray between the phase of cleaning and repainting. Botton + Gardiner can, upon request, provide an aerosol for retouching the zinc coating.

The reproductions of colours in the brochure are not a true RAL match. To compare the relative RAL colours, use a commercial RAL card. In case of any doubt about the proper maintenance procedure, please contact Botton + Gardiner for advice.

Additional Comments

Customisable
A wide variety of ways the components can be assembled together allows for almost unlimited customisation of the configuration.

Options
The concrete plane is available in a linear shape or curved to 45° degrees.

The hardwood seat sections are available in a:
Flat bench style design - in single or double depths, straight or curved.

Seat style design with a backrest - in the straight linear version in double or single depths and curved in single depth only (on the internal or external radius).
